Pre-University Mentoring for the Multiculturally Minded.
Based in Valencia, Spain but serving students across the globe.
Hyll Education offers bespoke counseling to current and aspiring college and university students with the aim of ensuring a meaningful, enjoyable, and fulfilling college experience. Our consultants help students navigate the many challenges inherent to choosing, transitioning to, and flourishing in the university environment.
Mission
and Vision
Although Hyll originally stood for Hybrid Language Learning, over time its meaning has evolved, coming to mean Hybrid Living and Learning. We originally developed the word Hyll while teaching languages at Harvard, realizing that our teaching philosophy, while it also involved some traditional instruction, was driven primarily by authentic sociocultural engagement. We believe that language learning, much like the consulting relationship, is a “hybrid” learning experience in which knowledge is co-created by teacher and learner (or mentor and student) through active, engaged dialogue.
As we spent more and more time with this notion of hybridity, we realized it infused all areas of our personal and professional lives. Our multicultural family, for instance, nurtures strong relationships to the United States, Spain, and Italy and regularly speaks English, Spanish, and Italian. Hybridity is who we are, and when we decided to bring our considerable experience in mentoring students to college consulting, we immediately knew that it would be called Hyll. A homophone of “hill,” it also acknowledges its conception in Rome, a city characterized by its hills.

Ideas
not Degrees.
Every student is different. While most of our students will pursue a university degree, our goal is to help students realize themselves, no matter what their path.
Our expertise revolves around the idea of finding the spark in each of our students, the motivations and passions that will make them uniquely fit for their careers, whichever they may be.
Experience.
We bring the kind of intimate knowledge of the university experience that can only come from inside. Our consultants boast experience studying, teaching, and working at some of the most prestigious institutions in the world, including Harvard University, Williams College, UNC Chapel Hill, Georgetown, and the University of Edinburgh.
Mentoring.
Our philosophy reflects our belief in the power of a strong mentoring relationship. Our team of mentors work with their students to create lasting and meaningful bonds that allow learners to thrive.
